Thurber House is pleased to announce the Fall 2010 season of Adult Writing Workshops!

Beginning Monday, September 13 and running for six consecutive Mondays from 6-8 p.m., until October 18, Thurber House Adult Writing Workshops will offer two introductory classes that combine workshop exercises, critiquing and writing assignments. You must be over 18 to participate.

All classes are held at Thurber Center, 91 Jefferson Avenue, next door to Thurber House. Parking is free on Jefferson Avenue after 6 p.m.

Choose one of the following classes:

FROM PAGE TO STAGE
New or aspiring writers will learn how to get over the hurdles of beginning the process of going from idea to story to script. Whether what you want to write is all about plot or all about character, or a great combination of both, moving from idea to page to stage is an opportunity to discover your own voice and move it to ‘center stage.’ Class limited to 20.

Instructor: Yolonda Sanders is a published author and playwright whose works have been featured nationally. She is the founder and CEO of Yo Productions, a theatrical entertainment and literary service company.

INTRODUCTION TO NONFICTION WRITING
How to write a variety of nonfiction including magazine articles, books, memoir, corporate communication, Web projects, ghostwriting, speeches, and more. From getting started to how to edit and proofread, to building your brand and interviewing tips and techniques, this class is a basic overview of the many different and interesting forms of nonfiction writing. Class limited to 20.

Instructor: Gretchen Hirsch is the published author of numerous nonfiction books in a variety of categories. She is the president of the Stevens/St. John Company where she provides communications project management; ‘chief surgeon’ at Midwest Book Doctors; and senior writer for Flyin’ West Marketing in San Francisco.

Class size is limited to the number indicated by the course description to ensure individual attention so enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Receipt of payment in full of the non-refundable tuition of $250 is the only way to confirm registration. A check returned by the bank cancels registration.
